We hope you’re enjoying our weekly Virtual Instant Challenges! This week, we’re gonna do a little performance-based challenge. Get your group together online and let us know what you think!
Setup: Decide on a virtual meeting time with your team and have every group member bring one object from the kitchen with them to the meeting. Group members may not select any sharp objects, such as a knife. Team members should not discuss or share their chosen objects until everyone is ready to begin the challenge.
Challenge: Create and present a performance about a situation where objects from the kitchen are much larger than in real life.
Your performance should incorporate each team member’s object.
The setting of your performance should NOT be a kitchen.
Time: 4 minutes to show your objects and plan your performance; 3 minutes to present your performance.
Scoring:
A. 10 points if your story has a beginning, a middle, and an end
B. 20 points if your team integrates every team member’s object into the performance
C. Up to 20 points for creative use of objects
D. Up to 20 points for the creativity of your story set in a location that is not a kitchen
E. Up to 20 points for how well your team worked together
Reflection Questions:
- How did the group decide on a setting for your story?
- How did you incorporate each of the objects into the performance? Did you use them in different ways or multiple times?
- How would you describe the action in the beginning of the story? Middle? Ending? Which part was the most interesting?
