As a mechanical designer in the live entertainment industry, I rely heavily on my six years as a Destination Imagination (DI) team member. Rock concert tours are designed quickly, so almost every day at my job is like a large-scale Instant Challenge. Nothing could have prepared me to design animatronics and theatrical machinery any better than DI.

As a member of DI’s Box and Ball Society (an annual major donor giving society), I choose to donate to DI because it fills a critical gap in education for many kids. Solving open-ended Challenges without adult interference helps prepare kids to solve the problems that people haven’t encountered yet. These are the skills that will never become obsolete or automated. I donate to DI because it helped to define my success in life and I want to ensure that it continues to provide these educational opportunities to the next generation of leaders and innovators. I’m proud to put my hat on for creativity by donating to DI and I hope you consider making a donation too.

This holiday season, please join me in supporting Destination Imagination by putting on your ‘giving hat’ and making a donation to DI as part of the Hats On For Creativity fundraising challenge. Help me in raising $10,000 for DI by December 31, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

You can make a donation to Destination Imagination as part of the Hats On For Creativity fundraising challenge with these 3 simple steps:

  1. Make a tax-deductible donation of any amount to Destination Imagination, Inc. online, or by mail, email or phone.*
  2. After you make your donation, post a photo of yourself wearing your favorite hat on social media to encourage others to make their own donations. Use the hashtag #HatsOnForCreativity.
  3. Challenge 2 people to make a donation in the #HatsOnForCreativity fundraising challenge by tagging them in your photo.

I would like to formally challenge Vikram Ekambaram, a Team Manager from New York, to participate in the Hats On For Creativity fundraising challenge.
