As a Team Manager, you notice the growth that happens in young people on a Destination Imagination (DI) team. At the beginning of the year, they are leery of working together, afraid to share ideas, or resistant to listening to each other. They may have trouble deciding on a Challenge or may not handle disagreements well. But, somewhere along their journey, they jell as a team. They can disagree without being mean and they start working on their solution as soon as they get to their team meeting. By the end of the DI season, they are connected to each other, manage themselves and each other, are focused on a goal, make decisions individually and together, and take personal responsibility for what they agree to do for the team. All of this growth is Social-Emotional Learning.
Every Team Manager has a story about how their team members grew, and we need to hear from you to collect solid data we can share with sponsors, funders and grantors.
DI has partnered with Aperture Education to provide an observational screening tool that will measure a student’s social-emotional abilities 4-6 weeks after the start of the DI season and then again around the team’s first tournament.
It takes approximately 60 minutes to complete the initial electronic observational survey and an additional 60 minutes to complete the follow-up survey.
As a Team Manager, your participation in this survey is critical in helping us to provide proven results on how Destination Imagination increases the social and emotional abilities of our participants. Team Managers who complete both surveys will be entered into a drawing for one of five $100 gift cards.
