This week, students across the globe are participating in the 2018 Hour of Code Challenge. This global movement is an opportunity to introduce students to the ever-growing world of computer science. Whether at school or at home, anyone can participate.
Check out these 5 activities to get your kids started:
- Minecraft (Grades 2+): Micraft is back to Hour of Code with a brand new coding adventure. In Micraft Voyage Aquatic, kids will use their creativity and problem-solving skills to explore and build underwater worlds with code.
- The Grinch: Saving Christmas with Code (Grades 2-8): Just in time for the holidays! Kids will learn to program drones and a high-tech sleigh with coding magic to capture presents and navigate down the mountain to return Christmas to Whoville.
- Create Animations that Talk (Grades 2+): The possibilities are endless with this coding activity! This project will show kids how to create talking animations that spin, zoom and change colors. They’ll bring their characters to life and create a rapping robot.
- Harry Potter: Learn to Code and Make Magic (Grades 2-8): Kids will learn to code and make magic on screen with creative challenges inspired by the Wizarding World, including making feathers fly and fire flow, composing music, and more.
