Last Wednesday, I attended a briefing at the Capitol, where I met a number of individuals who expressed concerns about the future. They spoke about the constant troubling news broadcasts, the struggling economy, the shortage of teachers, budget cuts, the global shift in demographics, and the rapid pace of change. This news is causing people to feel insecure about the future and rightly so. However, I enjoy telling people with these concerns about my faith in our future leaders and innovators who will pioneer creative solutions to the world’s many challenges.

The good news for our DI family is that we know that our participants are capable of tackling the world’s challenges. They have the confidence and creative process skills needed to find solutions to the world’s pressing issues. Our Program Challenges continue to prepare participants for leadership and innovation. Each open-ended Challenge is written to invoke the use of imagination and collaboration to reach novel solutions. So the next time someone expresses their doubts about the future, you can smile and tell them about how our DI participants are learning the 21st century skills they will need to thrive in an ever-changing global economy.
