Appraisers Minimize

We Love Our Appraisers!Appraisers

Thank you for agreeing to appraise at a Maryland Destination ImagiNation tournament. If you represent a team, that team is depending on you to appraise at its Regional Tournament and at the State Tournament, if the team advances to that level. However, you are welcomed to appraise at any additional tournaments that fit your schedule. And of course, appraisers who are not connected to teams are free to wander the state in March and April to appraise where they wish. We love wandering appraisers!

Once you know what tournaments you will be appraising and which training you will attend, you are ready to register on our online registration system. Just use the link to the right to enter the system. If you represent a team, you will need the team’s number to register.

First-time appraisers will be asked to complete an online introductory session prior to training. This will allow us to dive right into the challenges at training.

About Appraiser Training

In order to insure that the kids are fairly and consistently evaluated, every appraiser must be trained each year. Appraiser training dates, sites and directions are below. You will indicate your preferred training date and challenge preference when you register online.

After the appraisers training, your regional challenge master will contact you by telephone or e-mail to finalize tournament plans. Please notify your challenge master and/or tournament director if an emergency arises and you are unable to appraise at the tournament. Thank you for your time and efforts on behalf Maryland’s DI kids.

VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Shortly before your training date, you will receive an e-mail containing your challenge assignment from your regional appraiser coordinator. The e-mail will have two attachments – the challenge that you will appraise (unless you are doing Instant Challenge) and portions of the Rules of the Road.

All central challenge appraisers must bring with them a copy of their challenge and the excerpt from the Rules of the Road. Please read through them before attending training and bring them with you to the training. Advance reading of the materials will allow more substantive training and create a better tournament experience for the kids.
